Two team members from Larne-based electrical testing firm Independent Company Safety Services (ICSS) have signed up to the Kilimanjaro Challenge for a Cause.
Bradley Gillespie and Barry Penny are set to scale the highest freestanding mountain in the world between September 27 and October 7 to raise funds for the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC).
Reaching 5,895m, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is also the highest mountain on the African continent with its snow-capped summit rising high above the dusty African plains and huge permanent glaciers flowing down from its summit.
Participants fly from London to Kilimanjaro, starting their trek from the Machame Camp and completing between 9km and 20km a day through rainforest, the Shira Plateau, Western Breach, Great Barranco ravine and Uhuru Peak summit.

EIC has been in existence for over 100 years, supporting anyone who works in the electrical or energy industries, including the immediate family of industry members.
With many in the sector feeling the pinch of the increased cost of living and continuously changing circumstances right now, the uncertainty can take its toll physically and mentally.
While those working in the electrical industry are not always great at reaching out when times are tough, EIC prides itself on being an organisation that can offer free and confidential support. It endeavours to consider every factor and works with its industry members to generate the best possible outcome.
EIC has delivered over £900,000 back into the industry through its support services. On average, it sees up to 30 new cases a week, sometimes more, with the vast majority encompassing money concerns in some capacity, while mental health sessions continue to be the most utilised provision among service users, industry wide.
