Success for Specialised Fire & Security

Not only has the project showcased the company’s ability to provide a tailored solution to a project of this nature, but it has also highlighted its relationship with respected manufacturers, Kentec and Hochiki.

“We have built a strong relationship with Kentec over the years. When Hochiki’s parent company acquired Kentec we wanted to replicate that success,” explained John Moore, Contracts Director at Specialised Fire & Security. “We have now reached an agreement to be an agent for them and look forward to building their presence in Northern Ireland.

“We used both Kentec and Hochiki products on the Ten Square Hotel project and it is testament to the quality of their range.”

Richard Wharram, Regional Sales Manager, Hochiki Europe, said, “Specialised Fire & Security are an extremely experienced and highly professional installation company and we are pleased to be working with them on a number of prestigious projects throughout Northern Ireland.”

The new reception area at Ten Square Hotel, Belfast. Specialised Fire & Security has recently completed a tailored fire and security solution for the hotel’s impressive extension.

Phase one of the impressive 50-bedroom extension was completed in December, with the complete work set to finish later this year. The project has refurbished what was Lancashire House in the city centre to bring a remodelled front of house, new kitchens and a complete modernisation of all bedrooms alongside the addition of new executive meeting rooms and function suites.

Specialised Fire & Security supplied a new networked fire and alarm system for the new extension while also undertaking an upgrade to the existing system throughout the hotel.

“We replaced the existing control panel and have integrated the old system into the new one,” explained John. “There had been issues with false alarms that were simply down to the age of the existing system, so the upgrade will help to eradicate this. It’s not ideal to have false alarms in any setting, but particularly in a hotel, so that has been paramount.”

The partnership approach from Specialised Fire & Security Ltd has been acknowledged by the electrical contractor, James Haughey & Co, and electrical consultant, FM Stewart and Associates.

Specialised Fire & Security played a central role in this process. We have worked with them on a number of projects and have been impressed by their technical expertise.”

Philip Sweetlove, Director, FM Stewart and Associates, added, “Specialised Fire & Security have proved themselves over a number of projects that we have worked together on. They provide a high level of customer service and are easy to work with.”

We have a number of clients in the hotel and leisure sector and, as this is an area that is growing in Belfast, the Ten Square Hotel provided us with another opportunity to highlight how we can provide solutions that meet the specific requirements of the project.”
