Kempston Controls acquires Clondalkin-based TEC Electric

Kempston Control's acquisition of Clondalkin-based TEC Electric is a meeting of minds...

TEC Electric was formed in 2005.

They may be across the Irish Sea but Kempston Controls and TEC Electric share plenty of common ground.

Both have a reputation established over many decades for supplying top quality electrical products with exceptional technical service. Both pride themselves on always having a comprehensive and extensive product range in stock and both follow a business philosophy that firmly puts the customer first. It’s why Kempston Controls’ recent purchase of TEC Electric has an organic feel – and why it promises to be mutually beneficial“We are really excited about this new chapter in the history of both companies,” said Richard Regan, Group Managing Director of Kempston Controls. “This collaboration has been a long time in the making, and I’ve no doubt that TEC Electric will be the first port of call for our current and future Irish customers.”

Based on an 1850sq metre site at Rushden, near Northamptonshire, Kempston Controls was established just after the outbreak of WWII as a specialist distributor of American manufactured components. Through a careful choice of franchises and partnerships Kempston Controls has developed a much broader audience for its products, this recent acquisition now providing an important EU base to accompany existing operations in the UK and Middle East.

All good for Kempstons’, but what about TEC Electric with its long and rich tradition in the industry too. Established over 70-years ago as part of The Technical Equipment Company, TEC were originally a manufacturer as well as a product supplier, until the mid-Eighties when the product distribution side took precedence.

TEC Electric was formed in 2005 with the objective to distribute electrical components from a growing number of key franchises. Now, as part of the Kempston Controls family, the Clondalkin- based company looks set to go from strength-to-strength. “It’s been a highly unusual few months, from completion of the deal, with all the challenges of the global pandemic and therefore not so much has changed as yet” said Kieran King, Sales Director at TEC Electric.

“Our staff have remained very committed to serving the critical needs of our customers on demand through this time and we are now starting to identify the many opportunities which can benefit our customer base by being a part of the Kempston Control group. Over the coming months we expect to be able to bring many more of these benefits to the market.“

For customers throughout the island of Ireland – that’s Electrical wholesalers, Panel builders and OEM Machine builders, Utilities and Specialist End-users – the amalgamation of Kempston Controls/TEC Electric now means they get the best of both worlds.
