The branch has been completely rebranded and is now known as Edmundson Electrical Portadown – a reflection of its parent company. In addition, significant investment has been put into the branch, with a revamped trade counter and office area adding to the brand new signage at the popular Mahon Industrial Estate facilities.
“This investment is about building on the success of the company over the last four decades,” explained Chris McConville, Branch Manager. “We are very respectful of the past but the majority of our customers know that we are part of Edmundson Electrical, so the name change will be a smooth transition.
“However, our main focus, as always is about maintaining and improving our customer service and the changes we have made will enhance this. We worked for four weeks to revamp the branch and remained open throughout this time, so I’d like to place on record my thanks to our staff and, in particular, our customers for their patience during this time. As they will see, the effort has been worthwhile.”
This isn’t the first name change for the company. Originally known as NIEI (Northern Ireland Electrical Industries), the company then changed its name to GEC, then to Walsall Conduits (part of GEC) before becoming Walsall Electrical Distributors. The Walsall name was retained following the takeover in 1994 by Edmundson Electrical – one of the biggest electrical wholesalers in the UK and Ireland.
The modern revamp has brought a fresh feel to the popular trade counter area, with the counter itself relocated to provide more display space for the leading brands available from the company. New LED lighting has also been incorporated throughout the trade counter and general office while the branch manager’s office is now directly behind the trade counter.
“We have an unrivalled product range, so we are now able to showcase this a lot better,” added Chris. “We are the leading distributor for a number of leading brands and our entire range is focused on reliability.
“Price is always important, but it means little without reliability. We work to find the right balance between both, meaning that our varied customer base know they can trust the products we sell.”
