The National Wiring Regulations now require that a full sized and insulated (G/Y) earth wire replaces the previously reduced size, bare CPC. It also requires that all PVC and LSHF sheathed cable for fixed wiring applications is manufactured containing an insulated earth core which is the same cross sectional area as the other conductors in the cable.
