ICD for all your cable and accessories needs

Acquired by Edmundsons in 1993, the ICD trading name was established a year later and has gone on to become a trademark for quality service and competitive pricing...

ICD is renowned for its excellent service and competitive pricing.

ICD is more than just a cable provider. The Dublin 12-based supplier aims to become the “go to” point for all cable-associated products.

Although part of the Edmundson group, ICD cables holds a unique position as a standalone, autonomous business supporting the cable needs and requirements of contractors and wholesalers but with access to the benefits associated with their partner’s (Cabletech) €30m stock holdings.

ICD’s main customer base and route to market is via electrical wholesalers, but they also offer an outstanding service to consultant engineers and specifiers in conjunction with their wholesale partners.

They are the main stockist in Ireland for Nexans in PVC and LSF SWA as well as NX600 armoured fire alarm cables. ICD is also the Irish agent for AEI softskin fire alarm cables, which have full approvals with LPCB approval for category 1,2 and 3 (data). Their Turkish import business is mostly done with Seval. On top of this, they have full access to their Cabletech partners in the UK via the Edmundson group.

ICD is renowned for its excellent service and competitive pricing. Stocking up to €2.5 million worth of cables and accessories at any one time at their Dublin 12 premises, they are well-equipped to offer a three-hour turnaround call and collect service for any ex-stock cable cuts. They also supply same day delivery. Next day delivery to anywhere in the country is offered, free-of-charge. ICD offers power cable ex-stock and discount to customers for full drums taken from stock.

NSAI compliance
To aid customers make the transition to comply with the new NSAI regulation changes, ICD is currently running both PVC and LSF in stock. Mick Stoutt Business Development Manager explained, “This is a hard one to call especially with Covid-19 and site closures, but our plan is to maintain both ranges ex-stock and phase out PVC before the middle of 2022, and substituting with LSF only. This will allow supply of projects designed in PVC to be fully supplied pre IS10101 kicking in in fully.

“We remain in contact with NSAI for any further updates and will be operating under their guidelines. I imagine that by the end of 2022, we will only see cable available in the Irish market that meets DOP, DCA s2a2d2 minimum.”

ICD aims to provide the best service and price for all their customers nationwide. “With our background work with specifiers, I believe we can help bring extra business to our customers and develop our range to offer a full basket of products for project completions. This includes cables and accessories and also a cable management system, which would see ICD become a one-stop-shop for most projects.”
