Targeted at business travellers from across the UK and Ireland, it represents a £4 million investment by the Northern Ireland’s largest hospitality group, Beannchor, whose hotel portfolio includes the five-star Merchant Hotel and the four-star Bullitt Hotel both in Belfast.
The Haslem Hotel occupies around 30,000 sq ft of the Lisburn Square scheme, built on the site of the former Argos store and its adjoining first-floor space. The hotel, which is aiming for four-star status, boasts three bedroom sizes all with super-fast broadband, 55-inch TV and bespoke lighting throughout,
Beannchor says the development “epitomises urban style” which features a conference room, residents’ gym and an underground car park as well as a lobby bar and restaurant.
The bespoke interior fit-out and refurbishment contractor, Konstruct Interiors, looked to AG Electrical to carry out the full electrical package. This included General & Emergency Lighting, Fire & Security Systems, Audio Visual Installation, Structured Cabling and every other electrical requirement that the project demanded.
Well known for their work in the hospitality industry, AG Electrical has worked on numerous projects previously with Konstruct Interiors.

For example, if the project is following an art deco theme we’ll come up with various ideas that give a bespoke spec to the lighting, specifically designed to complement the overall design.”
For the Haslem Hotel, AG Electrical designed an impressive architectural lighting installation with the majority of products procured from local lighting supplier, Lightsource. Standout pieces were tailor-made and shipped in from Italy.
“We used a Lutron dimming system throughout the property to help create the right lighting ambience for the different hotel areas,” says Adam. “The hotel interior style is young and fresh, and the lighting reflects that.
“Absolute Technologies provided the AV system for us throughout the ground floor bar, restaurant, reception and toilet areas. They delivered top-class sound quality while adhering to restrictions on noise levels in the various parts of the hotel.”
Adam described the project as extremely satisfying – the only difficulty faced was the delay due to the Covid-19 lockdown. However, AG Electrical has now moved on to the next development phase at Lisburn Square. “We’ve just started refurbishment works at the serviced apartments which are attached to the hotel.”
