Green light for Casement park redevelopment

The Infrastructure Minister, Nichola Mallon has officially approved the long-awaited redevelopment of Casement Park. Work is expected to commence in the first half of 2022 and take two years to complete with Mott MacDonald as the M+E contractor.

The Communities Minister, Deirdre Hargey, confirmed the proposed Casement Park development will cost approximately £110 million. The initial cost of the new GAA stadium was estimated at £77 million.

Main contractors Heron Brothers Limited, Co. Londonderry and Buckingham Group Contracting Limited, Co. Buckinghamshire have been awarded the contract for the design and construction of the new stadium at Casement Park Stadium for UCGAA.

Works will comprise the demolition and disposal of the entire facilities and the construction of the new stadium, which will incorporate changing, training, hospitality, acoustic performance capabilities, community rooms, media facilities, comfort, office and storage facilities etc.

Replacement floodlighting, stadium/ event management suite, ground support facilities including new arrangements for vehicles and pedestrians, electronic display installations, storage, surface and undercroft car parking, hard and soft landscaping are also included.
