Castlewellan Community Centre

High levels of workmanship have ensured a top job at Castlewellan Community Centre...

WKK Electrical Services is well used to working across community and leisure projects. The company knows that this is a sector where budget constraints can play a major role in how the project is planned and delivered. Close liaison and a thorough understanding of the client’s needs is a key consideration for WKK when undertaking projects in this sector and Castlewellan Community Centre was no exception. With responsibility for the entire electrical works package, WKK had a big job on its hands.

The project consisted of a new extension to the existing building, providing an ultra- modern facility for the local community. The revamped building also houses a four court sports hall and fitness suite. The retention of the existing building made for a complicated brief but it was nothing that WKK couldn’t handle. “Our quick response and ability to complete the works on time and in a short time frame, has allowed us to establish an excellent and honest working relationship,” said Chris Kennedy, Contracts Manager at WKK.

The new Castlewellan Community Centre has been warmly received by the local community. “We’re delighted to have been involved in such an important project for the local area. It’s a building that will serve the community for future generations.”

WKK Electrical Services has been operating since 1986. A family run business specialising in the installation and maintenance of electrical contracts, the company works across Northern Ireland, the rest of the UK and also throughout the Republic of Ireland.

Client satisfaction is key at WKK, with the team focused on delivering the design, supply, installation and maintenance of contracts across the commercial, industrial, health and education sectors. From initial design through to completion, Chris and the rest of the team pride themselves on their innovative solutions and on their flexible, client-friendly approach. The specific needs of the client are addressed from the beginning of every project undertaken and just like the Castlewellan project, a collaborative approach is adopted to develop unique and exciting solutions to help the project stand apart.

Over the years, the company has built a solid reputation thanks to the high skill levels of its staff. In every facet of its work, WKK insists on the highest possible standard and ensures this is delivered through continuous training and staff development.

Ensuring the lines of communication remained open between the main contractor and Kew Electrical allowed the wholesaler to maintain delivery of a steady stream of electrical products to the prestigious project. Kew Electrical is well known throughout the industry for its timely deliveries, ensuring projects on site aren’t subject to delays or disruptions. For a project like Castlewellan Community Centre, the wholesaler was the perfect choice when it came to the supply of high quality, durable electrical products that would stand the test of time.

A high level of coordination and planning was required for this project. According to David Adgey, KEW Electrical’s General Manager, the company’s ability to offer a reliable service and same- day delivery allowed the Castlewellan project to stick to its schedule.

“We also carry a vast stock range at KEW Electrical’s Belfast, ensuring our customers nearly always get the product they need. We have also built up a network of strong links with our suppliers which further cements our ability to meet the needs of large projects.”

As with other projects of this size, the electrical package on the Castlewellan Community Centre was significant and demanded high standards from all the teams involved.

“This was certainly a complex and challenging project but when it comes to working on projects of this size, we have a lot of experience. We strive to offer the same levels of service to all our customers and support single installers right through to major M&E contractors. With high stock levels, we’re in a position to meet those needs and we also have an enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable team who works hard to meet your needs.”

Kew Electrical has completed an impressive range of projects right around the country and across several sectors. With every project having its own specific requirements, Kew Electrical is perfectly positioned to meet the needs of every job it undertakes and to ensure products get to site as and when they’re needed.

Kew Electrical supplied a vast range of electrical products to Castlewellan Community Centre. Deliveries were made on time and sometimes, multiple loads were brought to site in the one day.

“As with every project we work on, we were keen to ensure the construction process ran smoothly and wasn’t hampered by slow deliveries. We kept in regular contact with the main contractor, who kept us informed of their requirements,” said David.

Castlewellan Community Centre is another worthy addition to Kew Electrical’s impressive portfolio.

“We’re delighted to have played a role in the delivery of this important project and we look forward to working with the design teams again in the future.”
