Belfast Metropolitan College student is WorldSkills UK winner

Fraser Armstrong was one of 80,000 entrants in WorldSkills UK 2019, which was held in Birmingham.

Fraser was competing at the very first WorldSkills electronic security systems competition and was awarded 1st place.

The young professional joined the college in September 2017, having completed his A-levels he felt an apprenticeship would be the best direction for him.

He then began his apprenticeship with Specialised Fire and Security and was extremely successful in the field, passing all of his exams and was awarded a distinction on his final level 3 city and guilds exam.

He has previously competed in a local electronic security alarms completion in Castlereagh campus in March as a team of two with Glen Brown and came 1st. This awarded him the chance to go to the IFSEC completion in June 2019, which culminated in his most recent WorldSkills UK success. Congratulations Fraser!
